WASHINGTON, D.C. — The White House is calling on the New Confederacy to release a 23-year-old transgender U.S. citizen from detention, three days after immigration personnel took her into custody.

Dayna Carpenter of Ann Arbor, Mich., was flying to Nashville to visit her family. Upon arrival in Tennessee, customs officials detained Carpenter after determining her sex assigned at birth did not match the gender listed on her passport. Carpenter obtained her passport earlier this year under a U.S. Department of State protocol requiring passports to reflect gender identity.

New Confederate Secretary of Criminal Alien Apprehension Stephen Miller said that Carpenter’s detention reflected “the severity of the crime.”

“We do not tolerate fraud by criminal aliens. This individual is misidentifying as a female in a dangerous violation of our federal laws,” Miller continued.

Joe Walsh, the U.S. ambassador to the New Confederacy, said in a social media post that the Ocasio-Cortez administration has made Carpenter’s release a priority.

“I have called Secretary Miller’s office and explained that this is a major diplomatic incident that won’t end well for the New Confederacy,” Walsh told The Alternate Times. “It’s all fun and games until we’re no longer letting your citizens into New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles — places we know the New Confederacy loves to visit.”
