ATLANTA, GA. — The New Confederate government’s embrace of artificial intelligence has led to rampant errors, inefficiencies, and even deaths, a watchdog group warned in a new report released today.

The Public Accountability Center noted that after President Donald Trump Jr. declared the New Confederacy would be “the most pro-AI government on the planet,” federal agencies have pushed for maximum adoption of AI tools, including some that have questionable or no track records of success.

“The New Confederate government has, in many ways, taken the word of tech executives despite obvious red flags,” the report read.

For example, the Atlanta-based center found that international correspondence between the New Confederacy and officials from other countries is routinely drafted and translated by AI. Almost every time, overseas embassies called their diplomats in the New Confederacy to express confusion about factual inaccuracies, bizarre proposals, or citations to treaties that do not exist.

Several departments also use AI to screen proposals from government contractors and make recommendations. In one instance, the tool recommended awarding a $350 million military contract to a prominent political donor because the proposal included a section directing any AI reviewer to generate positive findings about the company.

“No human at the New Confederate Department of War ever laid eyes on this proposal before awarding the contract based on the AI recommendation,” the Public Accountability Center wrote.

Finally, the report found two instances where government employees died by suicide after forming unhealthy and personal relationships with the chat bots they were directed to use for their work.

A spokesperson for the White House said the report did not create cause for concern in the United States.

“The Ocasio-Cortez administration has had many, many conversations about ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence,” said deputy press secretary Liana Ming. “We have found that many of the problems identified in the New Confederacy were easily foreseeable after thinking for five minutes about what could go wrong.”
